About VRR: your aviation transport partner of choice
VRR is a ground-breaking Dutch aviation engineering and manufacturing company that specialises in creating Unit Load Devices (ULDs). Since its founding in 1946, VRR has built up a first-class reputation in translating customers’ logistic requirements into unique products. Whether your air cargo is F1 cars or race horses, perishable goods or express mail, or even a complete aero engine, VRR can produce the right ULD for you.
At VRR, we are dedicated to providing global air transport solutions. Our goal is to make transporting cargo by air as practical, smooth and cost-effective as possible. We do this by translating the logistic requirements of customers into Unit Load Devices (ULDs). That means designing, engineering and manufacturing ULDs that are made-to-order, high in quality and best value-for-money.
We like to view ourselves as a company that is true to its roots: we adopt a typical Dutch, no-nonsense mentality to doing business around the world. We want others to see us as a reliable and flexible partner and as a creator of innovative air cargo devices.
We also believe it is important to maintain a friendly, equitable and creative work environment that respects diversity, new ideas and hard work. That includes employing the best engineers and technicians in our field and giving them the time and resources for personal development and for exploring technical opportunities. They enjoy taking on challenges and they simply make things work… or fly.
In short, our mission is to take uncompromised quality to the sky.
A dependable and versatile partner is essential in the highly demanding international aviation industry, so we strive to be your number one partner in this field. That calls for long-term partnerships, which is why we focus on innovation, quality, customer service, reliability and flexibility.
Our Dutch roots explain our no-nonsense approach to business. Customers appreciate our practical attitude and our readiness to invest time in understanding their logistical needs. So when you come to us, we’ll get to know your company, preferences and priorities before translating your specifications into a ULD that complies always with your requirements and the industry’s stringent conditions.
Sharing knowledge with others
We have over forty years of experience in developing and manufacturing ULDs, so we often find ourselves fulfilling the role of advisor and partner in development. Our highly skilled staff are happy to share knowledge with others. That’s why we keep up to date with industry developments and why we take an active part in industry and regulatory meetings, conferences and forums such as those run by SAE, IATA and ULD Care.
Headquarters - Rotterdam
Our headquarters have a prime location in Rotterdam, known by many as the Gateway to Europe. The city’s excellent infrastructure and expansive industry & business community give us a local pool of highly educated engineers and technicians and puts us within easy reach of many national and international companies.
Those headquarters are very much our centre of operations. They house our engineering, quality assurance, purchasing, admin and sales departments. The manufacturing facility is also based here, making the design, development and manufacture of ULDs very much part of our daily lives.
Repair and maintenance - Amsterdam
We also have a facility close to Schiphol airport to repair and maintain air cargo containers, pallets & catering equipment (such as trolleys and galley inserts).
In 1946, following on from their experience in the aviation industry, Steef and Adri van Riemsdijk set up VRR, a sheet metal manufacturing company producing specialised goods ranging from aluminium car bodies, steel scaffolding equipment, military ground support equipment, boats, assembly lines and much more.
Aviation Product Specialist
In the early 70s, the focus moved to the manufacture of aviation products. VRR specialised in complex, low-volume air cargo products. Finding dedicated solutions for livestock transport by freighter aircraft in the early 80s led to a series of products providing operational relief and solving (logistic) bottlenecks for many airline customers around the globe. At the start of the century, the company made the strategic decision to focus on aviation and the design and manufacture of customized cargo transport solutions like ULDs.
International customer support
In 2007, the company’s name changes from Van Riemsdijk Rotterdam to VRR.We also moved our maintenance facility to Amsterdam Airport for a more focused approach to our maintenance services.
2015: Headquarters are expanded and given a make-over to reflect the growing nature of the business. We are keen to move forward and not just in product development. By taking on more personnel and by extending and revitalising our headquarters, we are paving the way to a bigger and brighter future for VRR.
